Week 4 pear class bird feeders

Image
This morning, Beach tree Class embraced the crisp winter sunshine and chilly air for an adventurous Forest School session! We began by walking around the edge of the school field, hunting for sticks to use in a Christmas project next week. The frosty ground and muddy puddles in the Trench made our journey even more exciting! Once we arrived at the Forest School site, we gathered in a circle to play the "Swap Places if” fire circle game—a perfect way to warm up and remember fire safety. Then, it was straight into crafting! Here's what we got up to: 🌟 Made bird feeders using giant pinecones and birdseed. 🌟 Used a bow saw to create wood cookies, hammered in nails, and threaded them to make beautiful Christmas ornaments. 🌟 Cut longer pieces of wood, used palm drills, and added snippets of Christmas tree to create mini table decorations. 🌟 One creative child even made a cat toy! We enjoyed playing on the swing, bug hunting and den building of course!  To keep us cosy, we enjoye...

Once we arrived, we gathered around the fire circle to play games, chat about the weather, and explore the changing seasons and trees around us. Then, the real fun began!🌟 Birdfeeders – We got hands-on making birdfeeders using lard, birdseed, and gigantic pinecones. A curious robin joined us while we were working, inspiring us to work even quicker to help our feathered friends. 🌟 Woodworking & Decorations – The children tried their hands at sawing wood and using stubby hammers to hammer nails. They then wrapped wool around their creations to make beautiful Christmas tree decorations. 🌟 Fire Fun – For the first time, we enjoyed a real fire, and the excitement was palpable as we listened to the popcorn popping...

ðŸŒ² A Magical Morning at Forest School! 🌲 This morning, our Beech Tree Class had a great Forest School session under the crisp blue skies following yesterday’s snow. The cold weather didn’t dampen our spirits as we ventured towards the Forest School site with our colour charts, searching for nature’s hidden hues. Along the way, we discovered lots of ice and even some animal tracks!  Once at the site, we gathered in our fire circle and warmed up with some fun fire circle games. One of the highlights was playing "Rabbit and Fox," where rabbits tried their best to escape the hungry foxes—it was so much fun and kept us moving! We also took time to care for our feathered friends, discussing different types of bird feeders. Mrs. Sunderland showed us a huge pinecone found in Northwood Cemetery, which inspired us to turn it into a bird feeder! Our morning was packed with adventure: 🌟 Building incredible dens 🌟 Bug hunting 🌟 Creating cereal bird feeders 🌟 Crafting talking sticks ...
