Week 5 Pear class clay and popcorn






This afternoon, our Year One Pear Tree Class had a blast at Forest School! Some of our adventurous little ones chose to roll down the field to make their way to the session—what a fun start! 🤸‍♀️🍃

We got super creative squishing clay and making wonderful sculptures. After all that hard work, we enjoyed popcorn cooked over the fire 🍿🔥, and the new hammock was a big hit! The kids loved swinging, chatting, and catching up with friends, sharing all their exciting stories about life in Year 1. 

We also learned about the importance of putting out the fire safely. Each child took turns putting a drop of water on the fire to help extinguish it, learning how we care for our environment. Such a cozy afternoon full of fun and learning!

Week 4 Elm class acorns

 Today, Elm Class had an exciting time at Forest School! We kicked things off by hunting for acorns and learning a fun science fact—if they sink in water, they’re good to plant; if they float, not so much! The kids were eager to test their acorns and see which ones would grow into mighty oaks. We also got crafty by making colorful Paracord bracelets, and, of course, there was lots of running around. Star Wars games brought extra energy to the day, with the children channeling their inner Jedi! As a perfect end to our outdoor adventure, we built a fantastic fire. Everyone gathered around to roast halloumi with rosemary and toasted brioche—a delicious treat that capped off a day of learning and fun in nature. Forest School days are the best! 🌲 ❤️

Week 4 Elm class high five game/manhunt

  Today, Elm Class had an action-packed Forest School session filled with exciting activities! We practiced our whittling skills using peelers to safely carve sticks, and later gathered around the fire to toast brioche, halloumi, and rosemary—delicious! The class also had a blast playing 50-50 and Manhunt, burning off plenty of energy before turning to creative projects like making Paracord bracelets and building some awesome dens. We ended our day with calming fire circle listening games, taking in the sounds of nature and reflecting on a fantastic day outdoors.

Week 3 Pear class Group 1 windy

What an exciting windy afternoon we had watching the rain whist sheltering under the canopy.  We used palm drills to put holes in conkers, jumped in puddles and hunted for firewood. Towards the end of the session it was so windy the children were amazing at helping take down the canopy. We looked at how the boat clutches worked and were able to let the rope go and unhook  the canopy eyelet whilst holding on in the wind! We finished the session by learning a new gross motor game - Giants, Wizards and Dwarfs!
