Beech Class Week 1

Image
Year 1 Beach Class braved the chilly wind today for their very first Forest School session! They were so excited as we walked down to the site. One girl said, “I’ve always wondered what that was down the end of the field!” With energy levels high, we played Crocodile, crocodile, please may we cross your river? to keep warm, chose our own nature names and went over our fire circle rules. We also enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits. There was lots to explore and create. The children made little woodland homes for our soft toys, threw leaves to see which way the wind was blowing, and got busy with hammers, nails and palm drills to make things with conkers. We had a thoroughly amazing time, and the children can’t wait to come back next week!

There were some brilliant creations, including a fantastic den made by two girls, with woven sticks strengthening the top and making it lovely and dark inside. The children showed great perseverance with fire striking, tried wood chopping for the first time, enjoyed some crafting, and continued our conker wars using pal...
