Week 6 Ash

This morning, Ash Class took part in their final Forest School session, and the weather definitely had that Spring like vibe it was bright and breezy, perfect for an outdoor adventure!

We started our journey by collecting soil to use later for making seed bombs. On the way down, the children searched the field for natural materials to build bird nests. They were fascinated by a huge patch of moss and imagined how incredible it must be for birds to travel up to 700 miles while building their nests—using only their beaks and feet!

Gathering in the Forest School circle, we checked in with our nature names and had a great discussion about birds, their different nesting styles, and the variety of eggs they lay depending on their habitat. Then came the exciting Easter Egg Hunt! Scattered around the woodland were numbered eggs, each featuring either a UK bird or an egg. The challenge? To match them correctly—not as easy as it sounds!

After that, the children got busy with different activities:
🌳 Tree planting with Mrs. Warner
🌱 Seed bomb making – mixing soil, flour, and native wildflower seeds
🎨 Egg decorating
🦜 Clay and moss nest building

With the wind picking up, we got the fire going early and toasted hot cross buns and brioche—delicious! To stay warm, we played games like Heads Up and 50-50, keeping the energy high.

We finished our session with a talking stick reflection. One child summed it up perfectly:
“I have no words to describe Forest School… it’s the best thing ever!”

What a fantastic journey Ash Class has had—full of fun and energy. We can’t wait to welcome Apple Class after the Easter holidays for their own Forest School adventures!
