Pear class week 2 hedgehogs

 🍁 Today, Pear Tree Class had an amazing time at Forest School! 🍂We wrapped up to start our adventure and began with a colour hunt on our way down to the forest site. Once there, we practiced our fire circle rules with a fun game called "Swap Places if..." Next, we learned all about hedgehogs! 🦔 We shared what we knew about these spiky friends and talked about hibernation and where we might find them. Then, we got creative and made our own little hedgehogs using thistles, clay and rose hips for noses.

The creativity continued as we carefully cut pieces of elder wood, removing the soft pith from the middle, and threaded them into our own unique creations.

After all that hard work, we enjoyed some hot chocolate and a biscuit treat. ☕🍪 The kids showed fantastic teamwork, independence and creativity.

Today Beech class had their very first Forest School adventure! The weather gave us everything again! bright blue skies with rainbows one moment and heavy downpours the next – but we embraced it all and had such fun in the rain and wind!  We started by walking down to our Forest School site, thinking about a good Forest school name. Around the fire circle, we played games, shared ideas, and talked about the treasures of autumn – conkers, acorns, and blackberries. Mrs Sunderland showed the children how to use a palm drill to make holes in conkers for threading, and then we picked juicy blackberries from the hedgerow to mash up for tie-dye. The children loved experimenting with fabric, elastic bands, and berry dye to create beautiful patterns. There was plenty of excitement with den building, bug hunting, and even catching raindrops from the canopy. Today our Year 1 children had their very first Forest School adventure! Half the class explored in the morning, and the other half in the afternoon. The weather gave us everything – bright blue skies one moment and heavy downpours the next – but we embraced it all and had such fun in the rain. We started by walking down to our Forest School site, thinking about a good Forest school name. Around the fire circle, we played games, shared ideas, and talked about the treasures of autumn – conkers, acorns, and blackberries. Beech Class Week 3 popcorn

 🌲 A Magical Morning at Forest School! 🌲 This morning, our Beech Tree Class had a great Forest School session under the crisp blue skies following yesterday’s snow. The cold weather didn’t dampen our spirits as we ventured towards the Forest School site with our colour charts, searching for nature’s hidden hues. Along the way, we discovered lots of ice and even some animal tracks!  Once at the site, we gathered in our fire circle and warmed up with some fun fire circle games. One of the highlights was playing "Rabbit and Fox," where rabbits tried their best to escape the hungry foxes—it was so much fun and kept us moving! We also took time to care for our feathered friends, discussing different types of bird feeders. Mrs. Sunderland showed us a huge pinecone found in Northwood Cemetery, which inspired us to turn it into a bird feeder!
