Pear class week 2 hedgehogs and Pudsey

 This morning, Beech Class had a fantastic time at Forest School! We began with a calming walk to the site, searching for colours in nature. It was a still and peaceful morning, we talked about the how the weather is going to get considerably colder next week! At the fire circle, we reminded ourselves of the Forest School rules:

Don’t pick, don’t lick, and watch your stick! 

We played a fun game of “Swap Places If...” to help us remember the fire circle rules. Next, we learned about hedgehogs and discovered what they do at this time of year. We talked about the word hibernation and where hedgehogs might be hiding for the winter.

The activities were so creative:

✨ Making jewellery from elderwood by carefully pushing out the pith and threading wool through and finishing our Godseyes.

✨ Crafting spiky hedgehogs with thistles and clay.

✨ Building an amazing den (the boys worked hard on this one!).

✨ Playing in the mud kitchen.

✨ Collecting yellow Cherry tree leaves to create a huge Pudsey Bear face to celebrate Children in Need!

We wrapped up the morning with hot chocolate, biscuits, and marshmallows—what a treat!

A big well done to all the children for their fantastic teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm!

Today Beech class had their very first Forest School adventure! The weather gave us everything again! bright blue skies with rainbows one moment and heavy downpours the next – but we embraced it all and had such fun in the rain and wind!  We started by walking down to our Forest School site, thinking about a good Forest school name. Around the fire circle, we played games, shared ideas, and talked about the treasures of autumn – conkers, acorns, and blackberries. Mrs Sunderland showed the children how to use a palm drill to make holes in conkers for threading, and then we picked juicy blackberries from the hedgerow to mash up for tie-dye. The children loved experimenting with fabric, elastic bands, and berry dye to create beautiful patterns. There was plenty of excitement with den building, bug hunting, and even catching raindrops from the canopy. Today our Year 1 children had their very first Forest School adventure! Half the class explored in the morning, and the other half in the afternoon. The weather gave us everything – bright blue skies one moment and heavy downpours the next – but we embraced it all and had such fun in the rain. Beech Class Week 3 popcorn

 🌲 A Magical Morning at Forest School! 🌲 This morning, our Beech Tree Class had a great Forest School session under the crisp blue skies following yesterday’s snow. The cold weather didn’t dampen our spirits as we ventured towards the Forest School site with our colour charts, searching for nature’s hidden hues. Along the way, we discovered lots of ice and even some animal tracks!  Once at the site, we gathered in our fire circle and warmed up with some fun fire circle games. One of the highlights was playing "Rabbit and Fox," where rabbits tried their best to escape the hungry foxes—it was so much fun and kept us moving! We also took time to care for our feathered friends, discussing different types of bird feeders. Mrs. Sunderland showed us a huge pinecone found in Northwood Cemetery, which inspired us to turn it into a bird feeder!
