Week 1 Elm class - blackberries
Today at Forest School , the weather was beautiful with a vivid blue sky. We were lucky enough to have a buzzard circling behind the canopy for most of the morning. We started the session with colour charts and as we walked down to Forest School we tried to match our colour charts with things that we could find in nature, this stimulated some fantastic conversations. We enjoyed blackberry picking and mashing the blackberries into a liquid to make a natural fabric dye. We took squares of white fabric and used elastic bands, experimenting with different ways of tying the bands and then we submerged the blackberry solution.
We bug hunted, made blackberry pies in the mud kitchen, enjoyed the swings, decorated some wood cookies with our Forest School name. We started to learn about the fire circle and played some games to help us remember the safety rules. We enjoyed hot chocolate and biscuits.
